Why are Frug Parsnip Pants so great for use over reusable nappies?
Okay okay, so I’ll admit it, I’m a massive fan of Frugi’s Parsnip Pants. I tried a lot of different trousers over cloth nappies for both my little people, but the ones which win every time are the Frugi Parsnip Pants. Why you may ask? Here’s why
Made from Organic Cotton
I mean why does this even matter. Well, the textile industry is the 2nd dirtiest industry in the world and non-organic cotton has been dubbed the “world’s dirtiest crop” so if you’re thinking about the future for your little ones, then organic fabric is totally the way forward. Organic also means fewer pesticides so it is actually better next to your little ones’ skin too.
Lovely bright, cute, unisex patterns
I’m a total sucker for a bright, cute pattern on my little ones. I know some of you like a more neutral look, but I’m so far gone on the patterns, I even mix them up and go for double rainbows! I like my little ones to get excited about their clothes and I have found they LOVE the patterns on their parsnip pants, so that is a winner for me and them.
Really flexible sizing
Not only are the Parsnip Pants made to fit cloth nappies under them, but they also have a foldable waist and cuffs, this means you can start them with the was it and cuffs folded, then as they grow, unfold and they get longer out of the trousers. I’ve found a pair of 18-24 month ones to fit from 16 months to 30 months with no problems.
Wear well
I bought some Frugi Parsnip Pants second hand off eBay, limited signs of wear, they were worn by my 1st born for ages and have now been worn by my 2nd born, they have some slight wear around the ankle cuff. The ones we bought brand new are in excellent condition.
Can buy 2nd hand and sell on easily
Quite a few of my little ones Parsnip Pants were bought brand new, either full price or in one of Frugi sales and Babipur’s fab sales, others were bought second hand from eBay or Facebook marketplace. The second-hand ones had varying levels of wear, but have all resold well, sometimes for minimal loss and often for a little more. It all depends on the design and who want them. It means you can be eco friendly without worrying about the cost so much. Frugi has a great resell community who are always looking out for thee items. Parsnip Pants are a real favourite.
Other options once you’re done
Some of the beautiful prints and soft fabric might bring back lovely memories, so you may not want to just sell them on. You could always gift it to a good friend. I had some gorgeous vintage Parsnip Pants passed onto me from a good friend, they had a bit of mending with additional elastic on the waist, which meant they fitted my littlest perfectly, they mean so much more to me after having been worn by both of my friends’ little people. A lovely option is to make new clothes from them, I’ve seen tops, skirts and trousers made from Parsnip Pants and they are lovely, so if you are handy with the needle and thread, this could be a great option. Another lovely option is to make either a patchworks blanket or stuffed eco toys for your little ones out of them. This way you have a beautiful keepsake that could even become an heirloom. When your little ones are older they will totally appreciate this
Summary
